What Is Alopecia Areata?

There are many different types of hair loss, as we have discussed before, and it is important to understand each type so that you can best know how to treat it. A very common hair loss type is alopecia areata, an autoimmune disorder that affects more than 200,000 Americans per year.

What is Alopecia Areata?

Alopecia areata, or AA, is an autoimmune disorder where the main symptom is hair loss. Alopecia means hair loss, and areata means patchy. So, point blank, alopecia areata means patchy hair loss.

Alopecia areata begins with your hair falling out in clumps, often the size of a quarter. Other than hair loss, it is nothing to worry about medically.

What Causes Alopecia Areata?

It is unknown for sure what causes alopecia areata, but it develops when your immune system attacks your hair follicles. It is thought to be caused by stress and often occurs after autoimmune disorders such as diabetes and thyroid issues.

Zenagen products are known to help with hair loss caused by stress, thyroid problems, and many other medical-related issues.

How to Treat Alopecia Areata

Luckily, most people who experience alopecia areata recover within one year, sometimes without any treatment. However, unfortunately, there are still 7-10% of people who experience long-term effects. It is important to take action ASAP if you are experiencing hair loss, because the longer it goes untouched, the more unlikely it is to reverse.

There is no “cure” for alopecia areata, however, there are options to help regrow your hair and slow down the shedding process. It was recently announced that Concert Pharmaceuticals Inc. created a drug to help with alopecia areata, which we will get into later.

How Can Zenagen Help?

It is important to see a doctor if you are unsure what is causing your hair shedding since there are so many different causes. That being said, Zenagen is a plant-based solution to hair loss.

One treatment for alopecia areata that is often recommended is an anti-inflammatory solution. Zenagen Revolve works to cleanse the hair follicle of DHT while optimizing the scalp environment for thicker growing hair by offering anti-inflammatory properties.

Zenagen Revolve is recommended to anyone experiencing signs of thinning or shedding related to thyroid problems, post-chemo, medication, postpartum, surgery, and stress.

Concert Pharmaceuticals Hair Regrowth Drug

Concert Pharmaceuticals is in the process of testing a drug that helps reverse hair loss, specifically caused by alopecia areata. Concert conducted a clinical trial with their oral medicine that resulted in positive results. They tested the drug on adult patients who suffer from severe alopecia areata.

Their recent Phase 3 clinical trial, THRIVE-AA1, which included about 700 patients, resulted in a significant number of trial patients experiencing greater hair growth following the treatment than those on the placebo. This trial is one of two studies testing the CTP-543 drug. Concert believes the results from the second study, which will be available in the third quarter, will determine approval from the FDA.

Overview

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disorder that results in patchy baldness. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this disease, however, there are short-term solutions, such as Zenagen Revolve. Concert Pharmaceuticals is working on a drug to help with alopecia areata specifically.
