The Truth About Red Clover

What Is Red Clover

Healthline says, “red clover is a dark-pink herbaceous plant originating from Europe, Asia, and North Africa”. It is often used as a traditional medicine to treat osteoporosis, heart disease, arthritis, skin disorders, cancer, respiratory problems, menopause, and even (you guessed it) hair loss! Red clover is a key ingredient in Zenagen’s Revolve line. Many beauty products contain red clover, but Zenagen’s unique red clover extracts have a much higher standard when it comes to quality and effectiveness.

Dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, is a hormone produced in both men and women from the male sex hormone testosterone. High levels of DHT can shrink hair follicles and shorten the length of the hair cycle. Red clover is a natural antioxidant that guards against DHT build-up and targets inflammation to promote scalp health and the growth of thicker, fuller hair.

How It Works

When Revolve is applied to the scalp, and left on for 5 minutes, the hair follicle is naturally widened through the use of green tea. This allows for ingredients, (such as red clover) to naturally arrive to the deepest level of the hair follicle. The deepest level of the hair follicle is where DHT is produced, which is the leading cause of hair loss. With the help of other natural ingredients, red clover guards against DHT build-up and prevents new DHT from being produced. Zenagen’s whole defense system creates a healthy hair environment to promote hair growth.

Red Clover and Menopause

Like mentioned above, red clover is often used to lower menopause symptoms. During menopause, the women’s body goes through many physical changes as it adjusts to hormone level changes. Some of the symptoms include hot flashes, mood swings, insomnia, and hair loss. Menopause hair loss often occurs as overall thinning rather than noticeable bald spots. This thinning can be noticed on the front, sides, or top of the head. Another common occurrence during menopause is increased DHT buildup, which is a big reason hair loss during menopause happens. Red clover is a natural DHT blocker.

Debunking Red Clover Myths

A common misconception about red clover is that it can be toxic. This is probably because pregnant women are advised not to take it as a supplement. According to WebMD, red clover contains chemicals called phytoestrogens that are similar to the hormone estrogen, which might disturb important hormone balances during pregnancy or breast-feeding. It is important to remember, pregnant women are only advised not to take red clover in medicinal amounts because it gets into the bloodstream. However, when used as a topical treatment, such as Revolve, the chemical amount is so little that it does not get into the bloodstream, which means our products are completely safe for everyone, including pregnant women! You can think of it like this: when you drop a drop of food coloring into an olympic sized pool, it’s not going to change the color of the water. However, this doesn’t mean the food coloring is not in the pool.

In conclusion, red clover is a crucial ingredient in Zenagen’s Revolve line in order to combat DHT and promote healthy hair growth. All of Zenagen’s Shampoo and Conditioner products are completely safe for pregnant women, not to mention they are cruelty free, gluten free, color safe and vegan.
